VEOH is being discriminating....

  • May. 31st, 2008 at 7:50 PM

I dunno if most of you have heard but so far, SOME countries are blocked from using Veoh. Their reason? "Veoh is maintaining markets when they have the highest concentration of viewers." In other words, they want to concentrate on countries which uses the most bandwith. What?!?! That's a lot of crap! If you take a look at the list of countries being blocked by Veoh, most of them are considered third-world countries. So a lot of users are feeling that Veoh is doing this because of MONEY since they don't get a lot of revenue from those countries! Some are even saying that Veoh is being biased towards the Muslim community because SIX of the countries listed is heavily populated by Muslims. What pisses me off is that my country is on THAT list. I couldn't get into Veoh since this morning and this have been driving me crazy... People in the countries that are blocked are suggesting that they should hit Veoh where it hurts... They should help report copyright infringment on Veoh and ask fan-subbers to request their material removed from Veoh, then they'll see a real financial loss. So far, these are the countries that are being blocked by Veoh:

1 Brazil
2 Jamaica
3 Chile
4 Puerto Rico
5 Indonesia
6 Guadeloupe
7 Malaysia
8 Venezuela
9 Guatemala
10 Luxembourg
11 Costa Rica
12 El Salvador
13 Panama
14 Dominican Republic
15 Saudi Arabia
16 Argentina
17 Cayman Islands
18 Slovenia

I feel like a bad girl...

  • May. 22nd, 2008 at 11:56 AM

Looking at my friends' page and how they updated every other day especially Pen's LJ, I felt somewhat bad. It's not that I'm lazy or anything. I felt like my life is not as interesting as others. My passion has always been about music, movies and tv but what can I do with these except daydream that I'm a part of the lyrics or plot... I wish I had some sort of talents that I can put out on my LJ.... God, why am I so ordinary?! Now I sound ungrateful...

It's examination month here in my school. Looking at the faces of my students, I can tell which one of them did their revision for the examination and which ones don't. Five minutes after receiving the question papers, they lay down their heads on the desk and sleep. I worry for them especially the ones facing national examination at the end of the year... If they don't buck up now, they'll never achieve good results. I should know.. I was them once upon a time....

I think everyone knows who's Guiyeoni is... Although I hate to admit it since I'm not a teenager anymore, I LOVE reading her fictions. And as everyone who's obsessed about k-ent should know, another movie based on one of her fictions has come out. It's called Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do.... I watched the previews on my cable and was immediately hooked on one face; Jang geun-seuk's. I have been pervertedly interested in him since I saw the SBS drama, Lovers in Prague. So, last night I went online to read the fiction again, hoping that at the end of the movie, he gets the girl. I'm not gonna write how it gonna ends but I think most of you already knows so no point in writing.

I think I'm gonna buy a car... eek! It's either this one

Movie Review: Penelope (2008)

  • May. 6th, 2008 at 4:44 PM

Amidst my coughing (I have lung infection according to the doctor), I forced myself to go out of my house and watched Ironman... It was time AND money well spent. But I'm not writing this to talk about Ironman. Rather, I wanted to talk about the DVD that I bought after watching Ironman.

So being the stubborn goose that I am... Instead of going straight back home to my comfortable bed, I stopped at my usual DVD shop to buy 27 Dresses (such a sweet romantic comedy), but the shop has only the 4 in 1 DVD which has 27 Dresses and 3 other movies that are unknown to me. After finishing 27 Dresses, I chose to watch Penelope.

interested? you know what to do... )

Nothing much to do....

  • Apr. 25th, 2008 at 7:29 AM

Just a short note... At the office, doing some boring things when suddenly I decided to explore my language options.... That's when I started typing a simple intro on myself using Korean fonts... Dunno if it's correct or not but when my colleagues saw that I was typing in Korean, they just assumed that I was typing some kind of Korean essay.... I couldn't stop laughing when I told them that it was actually English written in Korean.... Here's an example of what I wrote.

마이 네임 잇 이다. 마이 거로서 퍼렌드 갤 미 아디. 아이 엠 어 티철. 아이 맆 인 메래시야.

I'm not even sure if what I wrote is correct. But it was a little bit fun fooling my colleagues.

Has anyone seen The Forbidden Kingdom? Please don't. Watch it only if you are a KID at heart cos this movie is definitely targeted to children. Just wait it out until it comes out on cable. It was a waste of my $12. The storyline is cliched, the acting was dull and I especially do not like the fact that they changed the Chinese name into English. Why can't they stay as it is?! The only thing that I like is the fighting scenes especially any scenes involving Liu Yi Fei and Li Bing Bing. Granted that I have seen them before; in the dramas that they have acted in but I'm still taken in by the gracefulness of their moves.

My friend was praising like crazy about this scene...

movie, forbidden, kingdom

But I think there's nothing to it. Maybe it's because I've been exposed to kung-fu films since I was toddler. Having three brothers does have that effect. And it turns out that I'm not the only one who think this movie is a bit of crap. This reviewer also has the same opinion as me.

Just got my DVD copy of Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End yesterday. The price was little bit more than what I would normally pay for a movie DVD but Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom... need I say more?

Favorite song of the moment

  • Mar. 14th, 2008 at 11:04 AM

Whenever I watch dramas, be it in whatever language, I find myself liking this one particular song from the multiple dramas that I am watching. At this moment, my favorite song is from 쾌도 홍길동 OST called 만약에 which is sung by 김태연. At first, I was moved by the voice and the music and the fact that whenever there's a sad scene in the drama, the song will be played. But when I read the translation to the lyrics, the song has become my ultimate favorite.... of the moment that is. Click if you wanna know the lyrics... )

The drama's official MV featuring the song.

Before, happier times....

Now.... whenever he is sad, she can't be by his side to comfort him.

By the way, I'm a little bit envious of 김태연. She's only 19 years old but she has the voice that can make one's heart ache. What does it matter if she trained for three years with SM Entertainment? My belief is that the training does not make the voice, it merely enchanced it. Don't get me wrong, I can sing but I'm not sure my voice is the type that touches people's heart....

Movie Review: The Golden Compass

  • Dec. 7th, 2007 at 12:56 AM

Went out today to watch The Golden Compass although I reminded myself for the gazillionth time that I shouldn't since I'm on a tight budget. But James Bond won me over with his deep eyes that says, "Come and watch me!". And so I did...

The hype surrounding the movie since it came into production is understandable because one, it is being produced by the company who gave us The Lord of the Rings trilogy and two, it was adapted from a best-selling novel by Philip Pullman called The Northern Lights. However, after watching the movie, I find the hype was overdone. Sure, the movie has magnificient CGIs, breathtaking scenic views and incredible fight scenes but it didn't pull me as the LOTR trilogy did. Maybe I shouldn't compare the two but it's hard not to when you know they are from the same production company....

My eyes only came wide open when Iorek was fighting King Ragnar (btw, I think Ragnar is a sissy for playing with dolls) and the battle between Lyra and her allies with the bad guys. Kinda odd to think that the most of the bad guys have wolves as their daemon. The way the daemon turned to golden dust when their humans are killed are pretty.... poetic.

I have to say that Nicole looks good in gold. Stunning!

Stunning Nicole! )

January.... the month that I was born

  • Dec. 6th, 2007 at 11:15 AM

They say that the month that you are born into says a lot about your personality. Personally, I think it's just bs. But that doesn't mean it doesn't tickle my bones when I read it... Here's an example. Got this one from [info]faricsyung

What your star says about you )

Got this other from [info]faricsyung as well. I like this one better...

What your month says about you )

Tagging [info]shred, [info]starsruntrue, [info]narishun_kun, [info]sabacat and [info]spikiegirl. Since I don't know how to do strikethrough, I replaced it with italics.
